Illinois Campus Cluster: Physics queue

• 4 nodes with 64 GB of memory in each.• Our ticket into the secondary queue, which utilizes the power of the entire campus cluster.• If Physics queue is busy, please consider scheduling your jobs to run on the secondary queue.

iPython Notebooks

• Introduce basic programming concepts to physics majors via Python language.• Jon Thaler participating in pilot with Engineering IT and CSE using PHYS 435 students this semester.

Online Exams

• PHYS 102 piloted this semester in 257 Loomis.• First exam – went incredibly smooth but still ironing out the kinks.• Utilizes Byteshelf for online delivery of exam.

• Engineering IT also piloting online exams in DCL.• Utilizes PrairieLearn for online delivery of exam.

Fresh Design for Physics Illinois!

• Started talking with Creative Services in January 2015.• Met with ORCA, undergrads and grads, faculty.• Siv scheduled several photo shoots.• Responsive design.• Design/color palette/navigation has all been approved.• Construction begins soon – scheduled release date is January 2016.
