Contribution of IT Sector To Indian Economy

The total revenue from this sector was valued at 2.46 trillion Indian rupees in the fiscal year 2007

Out of this figure, the domestic IT market in India accounted for 900 billion rupees.

The software sector in India has grown at almost double the rate of the US software sector. 

Export of software and services from India is expected to add almost 41 billion US dollars to the annual revenue of the Indian government in the current year.

Nasscom, India’s technology and business services revenues accounted for 6.1 % of GDP in fiscal 2010

Growth of IT sector in India

IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) exports grew by 5.5 % in 2010

The IT market will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21% between 2011 and 2015, with unit sales resuming strong growth.

Each year India produces roughly 5,00,000 engineers in the country, out of them only 25% to 30% possessed both technical competency and English language skills.
