CCCD’s Community Supported Solar Campaign Surpasses Crowdfunding Goal

The Cheshire County Conserva-tion District (CCCD) recently led a crowdfunding campaign through The Local Crowd Monadnock's platform and raised $17,812. All funds directly support local farmers by making solar shares more accessible and affordable.

CCCD’s Monadnock Region Com-munity Supported Solar (CSS) project brings together farmers, investors, and champions to use available financial models to help local farms realize

the potential of the renewable energy economy. This project aims to help to stabilize and lower costs of electricity for participating farms through the CSS framework, and in turn, increase the viability of those farms.

Local School Districts Receive $37,000 Grant For Construction Trades Program

The Contoocook Valley, Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative, and Mascenic School Districts recently announced that the Region 14 Applied Technology Center (ATC) was recently awarded a $37,000 grant. This grant, from the New Hampshire Department of Education, will benefit ATC’s Construction Trades Program.Funding will go toward stu-dent training and certification fees for the OSHA 10 course, which teaches students the basics of occupational safety and health.

Additionally, the districts will use the funding to purchase virtual real-ity equipment and software, which

will allow students to gain hands-on practice and explore various trades virtually. Funding will also go toward the purchase of National Center for Construction Education and Research textbooks.

Through the Construction Trades Program, students explore several dif-ferent career paths while learning foun-dational safety skills necessary for those trades. As they advance, students can choose from a variety of introductory courses that interest them, including carpentry, masonry, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
