Geography

Ireland is an island on the western edge of Europe.

Landscape

There are many castles, fishing villages, and national parks.

Rivers

The largest river in Ireland is the River Shannon. This river opens into a number of lakes.

Climate

Ireland has a temperate climate, with cool winters and mild summers. Rain is common throughout the year, helping to contribute to the country’s 40 shades of green that line the landscapes.

Landmarks The Blarney Stone

Many people kiss the Blarney Stone, a block located high in the walls of the castle. According to Irish legend, kissing the Blarney Stone gives the kisser the ability to be persuasive. To kiss the stone, a person has to lean backwards, head down, holding onto an iron railing.

LandmarksTrim Castle

Trim Castle, the largest castle in Ireland, stands near "sheep's gate" the last remaining gate of the town walls. A small number of Ireland's more than 4 million sheep still graze there.
