 •  The state capital is Des Moines

 •  Was added as a state in 1846

 • Nickname - Hawkeye State

 •  Population- 2,966,334

•  Iowa produces over 10 billion       dollars in crops and livestock • Iowa is such a agricultural place

 • Iowa is also known as the "Food Capital of the

World"  • Iowa produces more corn than any other state in

the U.S

Iowa... A Simple Place

The state of Iowa is known for being a very powerful food producing state. Miles and miles of flat land which makes it ideal for growing crops.

Geography  • Land Area- 55,869 sg. miles

 • Large areas of wide open flat land

    

Alternative Energy

Along with corn, Iowa has many wind turbines. Iowa is the second best state when it comes to wind energy About 17% of Iowa's electricy come from wind turbines.           

Iowa is a great example of how to use our natural resources and not fossil fuels
