About the course

Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) uses automated testing to drive the development process. During this course you will learn to take a user requirement and write an automated test using Gherkin syntax, as used by many testing frameworks including Behat, Cucumber and Behave. We will use Behat to write some tests and troubleshoot common problems that occur.

Course outline

The Introduction to Automated Testing course will cover the following topics:

• Overview of automated testing and how it fits into the development cycle

• An introduction to the Gherkin language

• Writing tests in Behat

• Troubleshooting your tests

Note: These are the topics normally covered but might alter slightly depending on the needs of the trainees.

Target Audience

People needing to learn how to write tests in the Gherkin language.

Please note: Set up of the automated test framework and coding custom test steps is not included in this training.
