TRANSCRIPT

The main characters are shown on the poster. These are recognisable characters to children from the previous films and that itself is a unique selling point. Also, these characters are part of the corporate identity.

Bright colours and unisex colours are used so it’s neither a film for girls or boys. Also, the background being blue makes the orange/yellow text stand out because blue and orange are corresponding colours.

The film company is shown above the film title. Although it’s small because it’s insignificant compared to the rest of the website, it’s still important. Dreamworks Pictures is a well known company which has made many good films, so if they bring out another film it will make people want to go see it.

Because the target audience is young children, the font is bright and simple to read. Also, the name of the film is in a wavy font which represents the tropical island of Madagascar and the warm colours connote a hot place. There also isn’t a lot of text

because children won’t want to read all of it.

A hyperlink to the facebook page is on the website. It has a lot of likes (2.5 million approx.): if a lot of people like it, it suggests it’s a good film so people will want to see it. Also, it helps to advertise the film on a popular social networking site.

The range of flags show that

the film is available in a variety

of countries, which widens the

bracket of the target audience.

The fact that there are film

related games would appeal to

the target audience (children)

because instead of just

watching the film they can

interact with it.

The film is in 3D which

is a unique selling

point because not all

films are shown in 3D.

Also, 3D films appeal

more to children than

2D films because it’s

more exciting for them.

The hyperlinks at the top of the

page link to the characters stories

which makes the audience relate to

it more.

The target audience is 5 -13 year olds. I know this because it’s a cartoon and

has no strong language or sexual references. The film is mostly for boys because of the blues used (blue is

stereotypically a male colour) but it has female aspects of it too so it hasn’t ruled out the young girl market either. The

ethnicity of the target audience is wide range. It’s not targeted at a certain ethnicity but it helps that they’ve made the

film available in other countries and languages instead of instead of just English. The film doesn’t represent a certain

sexuality & even if it did it would be difficult to tell because the target epidemic are young.
