Samsonite South Asia Private Limited, Gonde, Igatpuri plant

Topic : Industrial visit to Samsonite South Asia Pvt. Limited Nasik plant for MBA I & II year students.

Date : 30-09-2015

Aim : The main aim is to go beyond academics in all possible ways; also it was focused to make students

aware about how various activities related to planning, procurement, inventory management,

marketing, financing and human resource are carried out in company and organizing an

Interaction session with the officials of various departments.

Description :

Dr. Moonje Institute of Management & Computer Studies, Nashik organizes various Extra-

curricular activities for student’s development as well as to learn the Theoretical Managerial

Concepts with Practical Aspects. As a part of this, an industrial visit has been organized to

Samsonite South Asia Pvt. Limited Nasik plant.

Samsonite South Asia Pvt. Limited has been manufacturing iconic soft luggage and hard luggage

bags for over 100 years, earning an esteemed reputation in over 130 countries. Also it is engaged

in manufacturing plenty of other segments like backpack range, duffles, business bags, wallets,

belts & travel Accessories etc. Samsonite South Asia Pvt. Limited Nasik Plant is the 2nd largest

manufacturing plant in Asia which has more than 300 workers.

When we reached the Samsonite Plant we were guided by Mr. Suyog Joshi – Manager(Personnel &

Admin) with the Introductory session about Samsonite Industry. Then plant tour to all the

departments was scheduled started with assembly line followed by production unit, Quality-

Inspection unit & Distribution unit. Students got the knowledge of manufacturing, inventory

control, quality inspection and packaging in real sense.

Further, we moved for the Interactive session with the officials such as Mr. Gokul Shinde (Sr. Manager –

Customer Support & Planning) & Mr. Yashwant Singh (Executive Director - operations); during the

session our students & faculty members were actively participated and asked many questions to clear

the concepts. Students also got efficient information about many other aspects like recruitment, waste

management and CSR policies of the company.

Overall it was an informative and knowledgeable session.

We faculty members along with students would like to extend our gratitude to the officials of

Samsonite South Asia Pvt. Limited Nasik plant for gave us the permission for visit and support to

make our visit a success with accomplishment of objective and our Director Dr. Ashok Agrawal for

allow us to arrange this visit for holistic development of our students.
