The Great West Park Get Away…

Where do you want to go?You can go anywhere you want as long as you

don’t spend more than £50 and you must remain within the law.

Last years best planner managed to send someone 452 miles!

Objective: Plan a healthy week for yourself or your partner. Your work should be presented as a report. It should include:An exercise plan for the week.Calculations showing how many calories should be consumed each day.Appropriate food and drink consumption for a day.All mathematical calculations, clearly presented and explained. Your report should also:Take into account your needs, lifestyle and characteristics (e.g. age, weight, fitness).Show which websites you used for your information. Extra credit can be gained for:Any other appropriate advise to be followed during the week (e.g. time spent asleep).

Here is some useful information…

• If you stayed in bed all day and did nothing you still burn calories.

• These calories are used to; Maintain the bodies functions - to breathe, to keep the heart beating, to keep the body warm and all the other functions that keep the body alive, for growth and for repair.

• The amount of calories you would burn if you did nothing is called your Basal Metabolic rate (BMR)

• In addition to this you also burn calories by moving and contracting your muscles. This can be just sitting up, moving around a room, walking or exercise.

• You need to calculate your BMR and estimate how many calories you burn in addition to this (e.g. by moving around and by exercising).

• Finally if you go to the ‘O’ drive, maths, 10y2, there is a document with some useful Web links to help get you started.
