HYDROPONIC… OVERVIEW…

Concept and Definition.

Forms of Hydroponic Culture.

Conclusion.

HYDROPONIC..Concept & Definition

~ It’s an applied science that entails chemistry, biology and some engineering.

~ It’s a technique for supplying nutrients and water directly to the roots of plants, without soil or other media.

HYDROPONIC.. Hydroponic culture is continuing to expand into

areas of education that previously were never realized as having the potential of entering the markets.

HYDROPONIC..Forms of hydroponic

culture :

Nutrient Film Technique ( NFT )

Sand Culture

Gravel Culture

HYDROPONIC.. In NFT technique, the nutrient solution forms a

thin water film which bathes the roots.

In sand method, a medium-to coarse-grained sand supports the roots in a container.

In gravel culture, a pea-sized gravel supports and distributes the root system.

HYDROPONIC.. Any hydroponic solution must contain

essential plant nutrients such as , nitrogen , phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and so on.

In future, demonstration hydroponics centre may be built in tourist location as people are attracted to this high-tech agriculture.

HYDROPONIC.. In theory , the growth-limiting factors in

hydroponic systems are the availability of photosynthetic light and carbon dioxide.

Automatic watering and fertilizing has been saves on labor , but increase the installation cost. So, fertilizer solution must be tested frequently.
