Makesureyourworkareawhereyouintendtousethepumpisclearofclutterandwelllit.Alsoensurethatthepumpisinalocationthatitwillnotbesubmergedorincontactwithexternalwater.Thepumpisdesignedtopumpfreshwatersopleasemakesurethatthewatersourcedoesnotcontainlargebitsofdebris.

thatthepumpisinoperation.3. Duringoperationthepumpmaybecomehot.Usethehandletomovethe

HOSECONNECTIONSConnectastandardgardenhosetotheoutletofthepump.Anarrowonthefrontofthepumpmarkstheoutlet.Usetheshortprovidedhosetoconnecttotheinletofthepump.Ifyouuseahoseotherthantheprovidedshorthosefortheinletconnect,insurethathosewillnotcollapsewhenpumpingbegins.Ifusingnon-suppliedinlethosepleasemakesureisnolongerthan25’longandthatitislessthan10’abovethewatersource.Note:Keepthehosesasstraightaspossibleandthiswillimprovetheefficiencyofthepump.

GROUNDINGINSTRUCTIONSThewaterpumpisequippedwithagroundedplug-inpowercord.Thispumpmustbegrounded.Intheeventofamalfunctionorbreakdown,groundingprovidesapathofleastresistanceforelectriccurrenttoreducetheriskofelectricshock.Thispumpisequippedwithacordhavinganequipment-groundingconductorandagroundingplug.Theplugmustbepluggedintoanappropriateoutletthatisproperlyinstalledandgroundedinaccordancewithalllocalcodesandordinances.�

CAUTION:Donotallowthepump,electricalcord,orelectricaloutlettocomeintocontactwithwater.Thismayresultinseriousinjury.Ifunsureofhowtoinstallorusethispumpconsultalicensedelectrician.

PUMPPREPARATIONBeforeoperating,thepumpshouldbeoiled.Thiswillallowforaneasieroperationontheself-primingprocessandcanincreasethelongevityoftheimpeller.Pourabout½tablespoonoffoodgradevegetableoilintotheinletofthepump.Thisshouldprovidethenecessarylubricationtotheimpeller.

OPERATIONThefollowingarethestepsforoperation

1. Afteroilingthepump,securelyattachinletandoutlethosestothepump.a. Theoutletislabeledonthefrontofthepumpandahoseshouldbe

connectedb. Thereisaprovidedshortinlethoseincludedwiththepumpandcan

beused.c. Thereisalsoaprovidedsuctionattachment(largetriangular

attachment,item20inthereferencepartslist).Thisisonlyrequiredtostopdebrisfrombeingsuckedupintothepumpandnotnecessaryforcleanwater.

2. Verifythatthepumpisplacedinasafeareaandwillnotbesubmergedor

comeincontactwithawatersource.Alsomakesurethatnothingistouchingthepumpsinceitmaybecomehotduringoperation.

3. Checkthattheinlethoseandsuctionattachment(ifrequired)areconnectedandarebeingfedbyawatersourcethatistobepumped

4. Makesuretheendoftheoutlethosesecurelyattachedandthattherearenokinksinthehose.

5. Carefullyplugthepumpintoa3-wire,120Volt,60Hz,groundedA.C.outlettobeginoperation.

6. Thepumpisself-primingandwatershouldbegintoflow30secondsorless.

a. Ifwaterdoesnotflowunplugthepumpandchecktheconnectionsandsetup.

b. Operatingthepumpwithoutwaterforanextendedperiodmaydamagethepumpandcauseittofail.

7. Oncepumpinghascompleted,unplugthepump.Thepumpmaybecomehotduringoperation.Becarefulwhenworkingnearortouchingthepump.Emptyandremoveboththeinletandoutlethoses.Wipethepumpcleanandstoreinacleananddryplacefornextuse.

CAUTION:Waterandelectricitydonotmix.Makesuretocontinuouslycheckthatthepowerconnectionsandcablesarenotincontactwithwater.Consultanelectricianifyouhaveanyquestionsorconcernabouttheelectricalcircuitorpumpoperations.

BEFOREEACHUSEInspectthegeneralconditionofthepump.Checkforloosescrews,misalignmentorbindingofmovingparts,crackedorbrokenparts,damagedelectricalwiring,andanyotherconditionthatmayaffectitssafeoperation.

AFTERUSEUnplugthepumpandletcool,asitmaybehotfromoperating.Removethehoseconnections.Carefullytiltanddrainallexcesswaterfrominsidethepump.Lastly,cleanexternalsurfacesofthepumpwithcleanclothorsponge.Storeinacleananddryplace.
