HUMAN FIGURE

Everyone to at least do task 1

Task 1 - All HUMAN FIGURE

WALT: Research the work of Antony Gormley andmake light outline drawings of a silhouetted figure.Fill in the shape with ‘rigid’ or ‘scribbly’ lines or marks in the style of Gormley’s sculptures.Take away the outlines.

WILF:• Use a range of lines to fill in the shape of your figure

• Draw at least three different silhouettes. Try to make the figure look like it is in interesting positions (eg jumping, swimming, dancing...)

• Your finished drawings should not have any defined outlines

Task 2 - MostHUMAN FIGURE

WALT:Make a 3D or 2D sculpture of a figure in the style of Antony Gormley, using appropriate materials.

(these could be wire, wool, card, sticks, extinguished matches etc)

WILF:•Your figure should be in a well-considered, realistic pose.

• Try to make your sculpture as ‘stable’/’sturdy’ as possible. Gormley’s work is often created for the outdoors, so try to make sure your work isn’t flimsy!

• Make sure your figure is all in proportion!

Task 3 - SomeHUMAN FIGURE

Imagine your sculpture is going to be installed as a piece of PUBLIC ART.

Take a photo of your piece and superimpose it into an image of your ideal public location.

Or

Create a drawing of your sculpture in a public place.

Explain your ideas – why have you chosen this location? What size would your sculpture be and how would the scale make it an effective piece of PUBLIC ART?Co

Show your 2D or 3D figure in a public space.

Go to Frog > subjects>Art& Design>Student document store>KS3>Yr 7>Homework>Human Figure

Most of you could then move onto task 2 as well to develop your ideas.

Some of you might then want to move onto extending your work even further by doing task 3 as well.
