The earliest roots of this branch of knowledge can be
traced back to the 18th century to some of the
writings of Robert Owen a successful textile
manufacturer of Scotland.
Owen believed that the volume and quality of a
workers output were influenced by his total
environment, i.e., by his conditions both on and off
the job.
Robert Owe is regarded as the Father of Personnel
Management.

What Is a Human Resource?
William R. Tracey, defines Human Resources as: "The
people that staff and operate an organization"; as
contrasted with the financial and material resources ofan organization.
Human Resources is also the organizational function that
deals with the people and issues related to people such
as compensation, hiring, performance management, andtraining.
A Human Resource is a single person or employee within
your organization.
