One of the push factors that caused immigrants to move to America was the Irish famine in 1848 (Doc 1). A famine is when all of the crops die and there is no more food for people to eat (OI). Because there was no food, people needed to go to a country where food was available.

In Hiroshima alone, over 75,000 people died the day fat man was dropped on the city (Russo, 72). These people died from a variety of medical problems.
