HonoringourFallenColleaguethrough“AngelsofAmerica’sFallen”

Thissummer,wearehappytoreportthattheorganizationweadvise,theAmericanChemistryCouncil,hascontributed$5,000inournametothe“AngelsofAmerica’sFallen”program.“Angels”engageswiththechildrenofourcountry’sfallenmilitaryandfirstresponders,offeringcoachingandinstructioninsports,music,arts,andotherhealthyactivities.Theseprogramscannotreplacefallenmothersandfathers,buttheydoprovideopportunitiesforchildrentocultivateinterestsinareastowhichtheymightnototherwisebeexposed.

Ourdonationto“Angels”willbechanneledbytheNationalSwimmingPoolFoundationtolocalJewishCommunityCentersthatwillprovidelearn-to-swimscholarshipstothechildrenoffallenheroes.Weareparticularlypleasedthatthe2017donationwasmadeinhonorofourdear,latecolleague,Dr.JerodLoeb.

Ourclose-knitadvisorygrouphasnotforgottenourfriend,Jerod,whopassedawayonOctober9,2013,afterbattlingcancer.JerodwasExecutiveVicePresidentofHealthcareQualityEvaluationatTheJointCommissioninOakbrookTerrace,Illinois.AtTheJointCommission,hewasaleaderinaccreditationandcertificationprogramsandinvolvedinavarietyofinitiativesassociatedwithperformancemeasurementandpatientsafety,includingthoseoftheNationalQualityForum,theCentersforMedicareandMedicaidServices,theInternationalSocietyforQualityinHealthCare,andtheWorldHealthOrganization.

JerodwasalsoacommunityfirstresponderwhovolunteeredwiththeBuffaloGrove,IllinoisFireandPoliceDepartmentsforabout15years.HewasagraduateoftheBuffaloGroveCitizen’sFireAcademyandwasafullytrainedmemberoftheBuffaloGroveCommunityEmergencyResponseTeam.In2005,JerodwasappointedCommissionerofFireandPoliceforthemunicipalityofBuffaloGrove.Jerod’svolunteerismandprofessionaleffortstopromoteasafer,healthierworldcontinuetoinspireus.KnowingJerodaswedid,wearecertainthathewouldbepleasedthatsomeveryspecialchildrenwilllearntoswimthissummer,andthattheywillbesaferinandaroundwaterfortherestoftheirlives.ThisisjustonesmallwayinwhichJerod’sworkcontinues.
