Project

„Historical formulaic language and traditions of communication“

Some questions:

- How do we understand the historical phraseology of German?

- What does it mean with respect to the „phraseology-regional“-approach?

- What does it have to do with the global research perspective?

2. How do we understand the historical phraseology of German in the HiFoS-

project?

Goals of the HiFoS-project

- linguistically: investigation into different types of formulaic expressions in historical German texts of different genres from 750 to 1700 in their textual (or social) dynamics and variation

- computer linguistically: development of a MSQL/php-database

linguistic database JPHRAS

Goals of the HiFoS-project

- linguistically: investigation into different types of formulaic expressions in historical German texts of different genres from 750 to 1700 in their textual (or social) dynamics and variation

- computer linguistically: development of a MSQL/php-database

- online bibliography with the secondary literature on historical formulaic language (http://www.hifos.uni-trier.de/Bibliographie)

What does it mean for the „phraseology-regional“ approach?

way 1: Research on variation in the usage of one formulaic expression in different text types of a given historical region
