Henri Rousseau Last week, we analysed the famous paintings of Henri Rousseau set in a jungle /

rainforest.

You will have noticed that each picture contains a

variety of trees and plants with a range of colours and shapes, spread out across

different layers of the image.

Look closely at the images again focusing on the plants.

What do you notice about the shapes of the leaves and flowers? How many different varieties can you count?

What do you notice about the placement of the trees, grasses and flowers in the images?

The Equatorial Jungle, 1909 A Lion Devouring its prey, 1905
