Basics of RePORTER…NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool Expenditures and Results

database replaced CRISP in September, 2009RePORTER retains all the search capabilities of CRISP yet provides

additional query fields, results that can be sorted and downloaded (Excel), NIH funding for each project (Expenditures) and publications and patents resulting from projects (Results)

Also includes access to research supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the US Dept of Veterans Administration (VA).

Search research projects from past 25 years and access publications and patents resulting from NIH funding (when acknowledged)

Results are returned listing project number, title, contact PI, organization, FY, etc., several of which are clickable yielding further details

Newly-funded projects, and revisions to prior awards updated weekly, except...Searching by FY for active projects might include

prior years if they are still active or not yet updatedPublications and patents are associated with

projects, and not a particular year of a projectAward costs are for the total (direct + indirect) costs

associated with the particular FY searched.Multi-year funded grantsFunding prior to FY 2008 slowly added to RePORTER

Project terms beginning in FY 2008 determined by data mining tool (prior to FY2008, same as CRISP)
