'~n Organization of Professionals, "
says Hildick
Tom Hildick, Computer Services Section Manager, expresses a lot of pride when discussing the accomplishments of the men and women of his organization. Tom said, "As in all operations at NDD, sometimes things go fine, and sometimes we get reminded that Murphy's law is still alive. In both situations, our employees hang in there until we meet our objectives. I would stand this team up against any in General Electric for their ability to execute their projects through to on-time deliverables. You are truly an organization of professionals, and I believe I speak for all our managers in saying that we very much appreciate what you do to keep our business running."
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY & CAD/CAM PROGRAMS
Gary Huffaker, Advanced Technology & CAD/CAM Programs Manager, describes his new job as only being possible through the support and cooperation of people in every section of NDD. "The effective integration of computer technologies into the manufacturing and engineering parts of our business requires a great deal of coordination of resources," Gary explained. "We're all focused on the same Department objectives ... improved quality, productivity and customer satisfaction, and throughout NDD, everyone pitches in to ensure success. Without this team spirit, it simply wouldn't work."

LONG DISTANCE IS NO OBSTACLE TO KEVIN DOEL Kevin Doel, User Computing Analyst, is ranked as one ofthe top 100 ultra-dis
tance triathletes in the country. Ultra-distance triathletes are the "iron men and women" who swim 2.4 miles, bicycle 112 miles and complete a 26 mile marathon run without rest, in competitions throughout the year. Kevin usually competes in smaller such events each month, and keeps in shape by riding his bike 120 miles, running 35 miles and swimming 6000 yards each week. "I enjoy triathlon events because they help us to raise the thresholds of our physical abilities", Kevin said. "In fact, my goal is to compete in the "super triathlons" which double the distances covered ... 5 mile swim, 224 mile cycling and a 52 mile run."
When Kevin isn't competing or working out, he often spends weekends with a group of Palm Harbor high school students, building homes for needy families in south Saint Petersburg, as part of the Habitat for Humanity program begun by former President Jimmy Carter several years ago. You might wonder how Kevin finds time for all this while holding down a full-time job at G.E. His secret is that the television at the Doel home is used only for watching the evening news programs. "This frees up a lot oftime for more worthwhile activities," said Kevin .

Because of this track record, 1 really trust my people, and I depend on them one hundred percent."
Outstanding on-the-job performance is usually reflected in the outside interests ofindividuals, and Louise's team is no exception. NETWORKING, INTEGRATION &
USER COMPUTING SERVICES
"Our team is made up of individuals who pride themselves in technical excellence and the satisfaction of our clients within the Department", said Richard Reynolds, Manager- Networking, Integration & User Computing Services. "I respect the personal integrity and appreciate the excellent contributions of every player on the team. Together, we have weathered two organizational realignments in the past year without losing our direction or enthusiasm for our work. It is that enthusiasm that makes this organization a great place to work."
Rich's team has a wide range of interests away from the job, with physical fitness activities playing a major role. For example, Borys Stopnytsky enjoys jogging and camping with his family, while Rick Perry and Jim Roth play tennis and basketball. Kevin Doel is an ultra-distance triathlete, and Sandy Peterson enjoys boating. Sandy dreams about living in a glass house in the woods, with a giraffe in the back yard and a seal in the pool. Tom Gill enjoys softball with his church team, and marathon commuting from Spring Hill. Real estate investing interests Al Lelekacs and Frank Stegmaier, although some of Frank's ventures should be considered urban renewal projects. Diane Bernstein, a real movie buff, is also involved in synagogue activities. Don Pinnell enjoys fishing and playing the banjo.
Ron Broadhurst, Applications Development Systems Analyst, takes a lot of pride in his prize-winning 1953 MG-TD, which he has restored from the ground up. Beautiful car, Ron.
DATA PROCESSING SUPPORT
Dave Turner, Manager - Data Processing Support, said, "Teamwork is what makes it all possible. We focus on quality service to our customers, and we all work together to make it happen. We've seen a lot of changes in the Central Computer Facility, on schedule, with minimum inconvenience to our customers. I appreciate all the extra effort that everyone has put in to get the job done."
Away from the job, Tom Maye and Donna Jo Fontana are campers. Jim Althoff and Kelly Wiseman are active in amateur baseball programs, and Ron Tanfield bowls. Helen Varecha enjoys cycling and dancing, and Bobbie Tampa enjoys counselling children. Cliff Stewart is a fisherman, and Paul Favaron plays golf. Jack Hofstra, Manager - Software Techniques and Data Base, explained that the people in his unit are responsible for operating system and data baSE management for the large scale IBM and Honeywell mainframe computers at NDD, as well as for several DEC systems. "Their work is critical to the business, since it affects the operation of so many plant-wide information systems," said Jack. "Many of the department standards for computer usage, applications programming and data base design and management were developed by this group, and we're really proud of their efforts."
Jack points out that, since the operation of so many department-wide applications depend upon the efforts ofhi ~ unit, a high level of team spirit and integration is necessary to achieve success.
