Hamburg Place YMCA Groundbreaking
-
The Hamburg Place Y was made possible, in large part, to a generous donation of land from the C. M. Gatton Trust. The land is located at 2681 Old Rosebud Road in the Hamburg neighborhood of Lexington.
This area of our community has been growing and expanding, and is currently underserved by the YMCA. The new Y will feature a 58,000 square foot facility that will include an aquatic center, health and wellness center, gymnasium, running track, group exercise studios, child watch area, community room, adult and family locker rooms, and an outdoor play space and sprayground.
Hamburg is a vibrant community that blends suburban character, excellent schools and parks with urban lifestyles and conveniences. Yet residents lack a central place to go to relax, connect and feel part of the greater community - a center or third place where individuals, families and friends can gather, engage, belong and give back.

Making a Difference in Our Community The Y has strived to make an impact by expanding access to YMCA services in order to serve the largest number of people. It has worked to collaborate with other local organizations in order to leverage its collective resources and maximize its impact.
On a larger level, the YMCA of Central Kentucky has worked to organize efforts with Kentucky lawmakers in order to influence legislation and public policy that promotes healthy lifestyles, physical activity, and disease prevention.
Within the national YMCA movement, we have worked to position the YMCA of
Central Kentucky as an innovator, not only in program development but also environ-mentally sustainable construction and in our use of technology to improve efficien-cy, effectiveness and reach.
Lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together. Thats why at the Y, strengthen-ing community is our cause. We recognize that for communities to succeed everyone must be given the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.
