October 2016 Dear Families, Friends, and Guests of the Steinert High School Marching Unit: Welcome to Steinert High School Music in Motion. Today you will see talented students from visiting schools as well as Steinert perform the shows on which they have been working for months. Steinert Band Director Stephanie Giunta, Assistant Band Director John Ketterer, and the staff have prepared this event along with the help of our Band Parents. The Steinert Marching Unit sets a standard for excellence and our “Steinert Pride” mission statement. I would also like to thank all of the visiting marching bands for their participation in our show. Being a member of a marching band takes discipline, dedication, and family support. Thank you students, parents, teachers and friends for being here today. And now let us all take the field in cooperation! Best Always, Dr. James A. Fazzone Principal/ Steinert High School

On behalf of the members of the 2016-2017 Steinert Marching Unit and the Steinert
Marching Unit Parents Association,
elcome to our 32nd Anniversary of “Music in Motion.”
Thank you all for coming out today to this spectacular event. Today, you will experience a arrangement of outstanding performances which are the culmination of countless hours of effort by the students, directors, instructors, administrators and parents associations involved with each of the participating bands/marching units here today. We are thrilled and honored to present for your enjoyment, the brilliant music we will hear and the beautifully coordinated drills we will see. Their reward is your appreciation and ovation.
Thank you to:
Dr. James Fazzone, our Principal, for his unconditional support of our Marching Unit program;
Steinert High School’s custodial staff - we wouldn’t be where we are today without your devotion to Steinert, you are a vital part of our unit;
All of our families, friends & friends in business - your continued support authenticates your commitment to our children; and,
All of our spectators - without YOU, the show couldn’t go on. We hope you enjoy your afternoon as we gather together in the spirit of music.
To Our Band Directors and Instructors,
A sincere word of THANKS for all that you have done and continue to do for our children. From the hot, humid days of August Band Camp, to the frigid Thanksgiving Day game, to the two-parade endurance test on Memorial Day morning, your efforts and true dedication are appreciated by each and every one of us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all that you do for our children, for our unit, for our school. The dedication, time and talent which you bring forth are forever appreciated!
You are the very BEST and we are blessed to have you as a part of our and our children's lives.
With much gratitude and appreciation,
The “SMUPA” Parents

Dear Music in Motion Guests,
Welcome to Steinert High School’s Spartan Stadium for Music in Motion 2016! We are so pleased to have
you here to enjoy the wonderful sights and sounds of this event. We hope you will enjoy the performances
of the hard-working students performing today as well as the delicious treats prepared by our band parents.
There are many people to thank for making this event a success. The members of the Steinert Marching
Unit Parents Association (SMUPA) have put countless hours into planning today’s festival. Their hard
work and dedication is unsurpassed and the students and staff of the Steinert Marching Unit thank them for
all the wonderful things they do to ensure our success. Thank you so much to Mrs. Marianne Joralemon,
Mrs. Kate Nolan, Mr. Jerry Calamia, Mrs. Amy Herring, and Mrs. Christine Brown for spearheading this
event and to all the wonderful parents who have donated their time to make today an experience we will all
enjoy.
Thank you very much to all the bands who are joining us today. We could not have this event if it were not
for you. We are so appreciative of your programs and the wonderful things you do on the marching band
field. Thank you to the directors, Mr. Brian Maher & Mr. Peter Certo, Miss Maggie Kehoe, Mr. Edward
Gattsek, Mr. Scott Katona, and Mrs. Jennifer Klek & Mr. Jarret Susswein. It is a joy to share this day with
you and your students. We are also forever grateful to our fellow staff members Miss Danielle Rafferty,
Miss Carolyn Anzuini, Mr. Michael Kelvy and Mr. Joe Ketterer for all the hard work they have put into
making the Steinert Marching Unit a success. They are wonderful colleagues and we are lucky to have
them as a part of our marching unit family.
Thank you to all the businesses and individuals who placed ads in our ad book. We are grateful for your
support and we hope everyone will patronize the businesses that support our arts programs.
Finally, thank you so much to you, our audience. We appreciate having you here to enjoy the hard work of
all the students participating today. Today is a day to celebrate marching band and everything that goes
into creating it. We hope you will have a wonderful experience at Music in Motion 2016!
Before each performance, we tell the Steinert Marching Unit to “be huge”. This means they should
perform so well they become larger than life and fill the stadium with excellence. All of the students
performing today have put in countless hours of blood, sweat and tears in order to create their seven minute
performance. We hope that today each band will “be huge” and have their best performance yet. They all
deserve it. Congratulations students, we are immensely proud of all your hard work.
Thank you again for coming and enjoy Music in Motion!!

Four years ago you came home and told us you wanted to further your
love of music by joining Steinert Marching Unit. Delving into
unchartered territory, we cautiously followed you through a very
special first year Op…Mission Halftime!! As we began to become
more familiar, our second year lead us on an Emerald Journey where
following a yellow brick road always showed us there is no place like
home!! As our confidence grew, we met a friend in Frank to celebrate
100 yrs of Sinatra and he taught us how to do it our way! This year,
finally, a Force Awakens, mastered the ways of Band Parents have
WE!!!!
Thank you for showing us something new, where we met some great
friends and got to show our Steinert pride but best of all, got to Rock
out with some really cool, talented musicians and color guards!
Now with your mission almost complete and a new journey on the
horizon, we hope your time with SMU was all that you expected and
more! May you look back fondly of being part of an incredible group of
kids and cherish all the memories you created together!!!
Much Love Always and Forever,
The Parentals:
Oldi Wan & Mamas
