INTRODUCTION

National Pharmacy Week provided the Grey’s Hospital Pharmacy staff with an excellent opportunity to communicate with patients and health care professionals about the vital patient care role of pharmacists.

This year’s theme of ‘ PHARMACY IN THE COMMUNITY – A SUPPORTIVE PARTNERSHIP’ has inspired the Pharmacy Department at Grey’s Hospital to participate in National Pharmacy Week.

The Pharmacy staff treated our senior citizens to a tea party after a talk on compliance, polypharmacy and osteoporosis

After fundraising the staff purchased food hampers, hosted a party and spent quality time with the children

CONCLUSIONPharmacy Week was a great success in conveying the key message of ‘PHARMACY IN THE COMMUNITY –A SUPPORTIVE PARTNERSHIP’.

We relayed the key messages of this year’s Pharmacy Week provided by the South African Pharmacy Council. This was achieved through the activities conducted and information material displayed for our patients.
