With 30,000 hectares of both land and water , the wi ldl i fe sanctuary ’s reach is so vast i t even

WEATHER & CLIMATE

Summer (October – March) Beauti ful sunny days with the occasional shortafternoon thunderstorm to c lear the air . This is peak tourist season t ime and there are manyvis i tors to the area. I t is a lso the rainy season and there may be one or two days of l ightcontinuous rain or short ,heavy, refreshing downpours. Temperatures general ly range from 28°C – 33°C withhumidity between 70% and 95%.

Winter (Apri l – September) Cooler and dryer with average dayt ime temperatures of22°C – 27°C with humidity much lower than in the summer. Frequent mist and dewin the mornings.

Cyclone season ( January to March) Semi-continuous wind and exceptional ly high springt ides. Often c loudy with dark skies.

SAMPLE ITINERARY

Arrival at Vi lanculos airport at mid day. A member ofour team wi l l p ick you up to take you to the beachwhere the boat awaits . A 30 minute boat r ide withthechance to see marine l i fe , wi l l take you to Dugongbeach lodge in t ime for a wonderful late lunchprepared by our ski l led chef . After a br ief of the daysto come, you wi l l depart on an introductorysundowner r ide. Reception cocktai ls and candle l i tdinner at the lodge.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL BY BOAT, SUNDOWNER RIDE& COCKTAILS.

Breakfast on the deck, overlooking the beach. Thehorses wi l l be ready for a r ide that wi l l take you tothe local v i l lage, where you can enjoy the localculture, with a tradit ional ly cooked meal . Maybe youwi l l be lucky enough to encounter some wi ldl i fe suchas waterbuck, g iraffe or other iconic creatures on theway. You wi l l cont inue to the beach, for someswimming with the horses and return to the lodge.Upon arr ival you wi l l be received with cold handtowels , at the lodge. In the evening you might want tojust relaxing on the beach or pool . Dinner wi l l beserved at the lodge.

DAY 2: FULL DAY RIDE WITH LUNCH ATLOCAL VILLAGE, WATERSPORT

Today you wi l l wi l l enjoy the beauti ful sett ing of thelodge, maybe s leep in a bit and engage in some watersports. Your pr ivate therapist wi l l be ready for your treatment either on your deck with v iews to thebeach, or at the spa. After lunch you wi l l set out foryour afternoon r ide, which wi l l take you to a far spoton the sanctuary, where the f ishermen and team wi l lhave set up local f ishing boats ready for a nightunder the stars. Your horses wi l l stay c lose to you forthe night , whi le you emerge into the naturalsurroundings, by a seafood catch of the daybarbeque before go to s leep under the Afr ican starrysky.

DAY 3: MASSAGE, AFTERNOON RIDE TOTHE FISHER BOAT SLEEP-OUT SPOT.(LIGHTHOUSE BEACH SPOT)

After a l ight breakfast , you wi l l mount your horses, totake a route along the coast to a beauti ful picnicsetup. Whi le you are having lunch, the horses wi l lrest in their mobi le paddock as you drive out withthe boat which is wait ing, to sunbathe, swim orsnorkel/kayak. When you are ready, you wi l l r ideinland back to the lodge as the t ide r ises.

DAY 4: FULL DAY RIDE TO BEACH PICNICSPOT, WATER SPORTS FROM DEEP SEA(BOAT), RIDE BACK TO LODGE,MASSAGE.

Breakfast at the lodge, and and onto the horses. Amorning r ide in search for animals , where you wi l lr ide along the beach and inland, c l imbing somesand banks to reach a lookout point withspectacular v iews. Lunch wi l l be served back at thelodge. After freshening up, and a massage or sometime on the beach, you wi l l depart to a beauti fulspot overlooking the f loodplains to enjoy somesundowner dr inks at Muco v iewpoint , whi lewatching some game on the f lood pleins. Return atsunset.

GETTING TO VILANCULOS BY AIR SAA Air l ink and LAM (Air Mozambique) f ly from Johannesburg to Vi lanculos.

Direct f l ights take approx. 90 minutes. Vi lanculos Airport is an internat ional customs faci l i ty .
