Grange Park Junior Newsletter
September 2019
Healthy Lifestyle Section
Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you all had a fantastic Summer holiday. It has been a great start
to the first term with pupils from Year 3 to Year 6 looking particularly
smart in their correct uniform. Thank you for helping us make sure all
pupils take pride in both their work and how they present themselves in school and the local community.
A special welcome to our Year 3 pupils and their families. We are pleased that all pupils have settled in so well. Tours of the school have taken place and it was great to meet parents and carers with my Deputy Head teacher and Assistant Head teacher.
Reading is one of the most important skills a child can learn.
Please remember that our school library is open each day after school
until 4pm (except Tuesdays). You are most welcome to come and choose
a book to read with your child at home or in our lovely library.
We have planned another busy year so please check the diary dates at
the end of this newsletter.
Here’s to a fabulous 2019/20 academic year. Miss Shaikh Headteacher
Local News Healthy Lunchboxes
GPJS encourages all our pupils to lead a healthy
lifestyle and we actively encourage parents to
provide a healthy lunch for their child/children.
As a result of this we will not be allowing any:
crisps
sweets
chocolate
sugary drinks
no nuts
Pupils can bring a treat when attending a school
trip only.
Pupils can brig in an extra piece of fruit to eat in
their morning break to give them the energy boost
they need for the day.
ParentPay - our new online payment service
We are very excited about our new online payment service, which will make paying for school lunches so much easier for parents.
Parents will have received their username and password letter the deadline is 18th October and we ask ALL parents to sign up as we will be using Parentpay to pay for trips in the future.
We will let you know when the menu has been loaded so you can make your lunch choices for the week after the half term-28th October
Please contact the school office 0208 3534265 if you have NOT received your username and password letter .
As a parent, I can highly recommend this way to pay for school lunches & events! Miss Kelly

Parent Suggestions
We would love for parents /carers to participate by sending in your suggestions/recipes /healthy ideas for the newsletter. Please email Miss Kelly on ekelly35.312@lfglmail.org or just pop into the office for a chat.
Knowledge Organisers
This year, to further support our children to develop their knowledge and understanding we have introduced Knowledge Organisers. These are ‘go-to’ documents that outline the essen-tial knowledge that the teachers will be covering across a topic or subject, including: dates, key people/places, vocabulary, definitions and other key information. We hope that you find them useful in knowing what your child is learning and how you can support them.
Share a Story
Children love to share books with an adult, especially family members, with this in mind we are introducing ‘Share a Story’ sessions where
family members/carers can come into our library and read a book with their child. We would love as many parents/carers to come as
possible, so please look out for the ‘Share a Story’session for your child’s year group.
Have you seen our signs in the playground and Reception areas….
