What is geospatial technology• Representing information about the Earth in a 2D or

3D way• Creation of maps• Analysis of information through a spatial orientation• Pertaining to the geographic location and

characteristics of natural or constructed features and boundaries on, above, or below the earth's surface; esp. referring to data that is geographic and spatial in nature http://dictionary.reference.com

Geospatial Technology•GIS is an enabler•Can be used in multiple subject areas•Spatial orientation will become more

important in the future•A visual database

Software•ArcMap is the industrial leader in this area,

but for some applications Google Earth or other software may be appropriate.

•Three levels of the software – ArcView, ArcEditor, ArcInfo

•KCTCS has a system site license•Available on JCTC Terminal Server
