In the next few slides, you will be shown some words with pictures. Try to guess what the words could mean based on the picture. The answers will be shown after the pictures.

*the word “Sport” in German doesn’t mean the same as Sports in English.

Each one of those activities on the previous page have a verb. You can conjugate this verb to talk about someone doing an activity. Before we look at some examples, review a conjugation chart first.

Let’s look at some examples from our activity list and write a short sentence. To do this, you must first conjugate the verb. Hint: the verb isn’t capitalized and normally ends in “en”. For these examples, I will use “ich”. This takes an “e” ending.

lesen → Ich lese. → I read.

Musik hören → Ich höre Musik. → I listen to music.

ins Kino gehen→ Ich gehe ins Kino. → I go to the movies.

Practice: Write 3-4 sentences about some activities you do from slide 11. Example. “Sport machen” If you exercise, you could write a sentence like this:

Ich mache Sport. Ich…Ich…Ich…

Challenge! Ask someone at your house which activities on the list that they do and write a sentence about them! Don’t forget to use the er/sie/es form!Example: Herr Thomas hört Musik.
