How to register for your Summer/ Fall 2015

classes

First, you will declare your major

The link to the major declaration website is provided in your folder

This video will teach you how to:

1. search for courses offered each semester (OASIS)

2. register yourself for courses

(USF Schedule Search)

Second, you will learn how to register

Third, you will review your completed coursework

URL: degreeworks.usf.edu

Review your class history:

• List of all college courses, including AP, IB & Dual Enrollment• Make note of any missing coursework

o May not have most recent semester

See how these courses fit into your Degreeworks

Green means you have

completed this requirement.

Blue means you are currently enrolled in a course that will fulfill

this requirement.

Red means that you still

have to complete this requirement.

REMEMBER courses you are taking now or that have not been processed by admissions will not be on your audit

Meeting FKL Requirements

Note: An AA degree from Florida Public College or prior Bachelor’s from anywhere meets lower level FKL requirements

FKL: Capstone & Writing Intensive exit courses

• MUST BE TAKEN AT USF• Even students who have an A.A. from a public institution

STILL NEEDS these courses! • Only exception - previous Bachelor’s degree

Permit Process & Eligibility

Documentation must be submitted via screen shots or in PDF Form. Unfortunately, we cannot accept copied and pasted word documents.

• The name of the institution where the course was taken

• The term in which the class was taken

• Passing final grade (as outlined by the Department)

• Approved course evaluation (if applicable)

Remember- In order to be eligible for a permit, all documentation must include the following information:

Important Reminders

Permits will not be provided:• While prerequisites are still in progress

o Example: If currently enrolled in CHM 1045/L we cannot provide a permit for CHM 2046/L until you can show a final grade of “C” or better

• If an evaluation is pending and has not been approved

• If a permit request has not been submitted

Permits can be provided:• Prior to your registration date• For courses not yet in DegreeWorks as long as you

submit the required documentation with your permit request

Pre-Med Information: • The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) is

changing in 2015– There will be four sections – two on the natural sciences;

one on social sciences and one on social sciences/humanities.

– There are two important courses to help you: Research Design Methods - ECH 4931 which covers reasoning skills for the natural

and social sciences Bodies, Minds, Society & Health– ISS 3930 or SYA 4930- covers content and the

four skills for Section 3 of the MCAT- Psychological & Social Foundation

(see a detailed handout in your folder)

If you are considering a Health Profession career: You should plan to meet with a Health Professions Advisor
