• born on November 15, 1887 • second of seven children, • grew up on a farm in

Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. • As a child she received art

lessons at home, and her abilities were quickly recognized and encouraged by teachers

• She was an art teacher before she became a full time artist.

• Famous for paintings of flowers

• She made them very large so they filled the whole canvas

• She painted many kinds of flowers

• She loved New Mexico

• She died at the age of 98
