GOD LOVES

A CHEERFUL GIVER

2 Corinthians 9:6-7

“Gather to me

my faithful, who sealed

my covenant

by sacrifice.”

Psalm 50:5

This is an image of St. Theresa’s new pews.

Please avoid parking on the grassy area along the side of our fence on Rodrigo Street.

Getting Ready for the Move

That’s My Seat—the One in the Middle!

O nce we’ve worshipped for a while in the new church, we will all start to gravitate to our favorite seats. Now, if you travel on Southwest Airlines, you will notice that the first people on the plane typically take the aisle seats. These seat pioneers are not

just claiming a one-chair territory. They are also trying to stage a block-ade. If I sit on the aisle, they think, maybe I will have the row to my-self. This is just a normal 21st-century behavior among strangers who are grasping for space—and we know there’s little enough of that on your typical 3-hour flight. Every day at St. Theresa, our joyful motto comes readily to our lips: All are welcome. Let’s dare to be different than airline passengers and wel-come people into our new, very long pews starting at the Dedication. We will have only three aisles in the church, and each pew will seat approxi-mately 18-20 people. One way to be more welcoming is to move to the middle of the pew. This way, we don’t use the aisle seats to create an unintended but real block-ade of the middle. By leaving the aisle seats open, we allow those who need them—families with small children, the elderly and the ill—to have access to these seats. With the earliest comers seated in the middle, parents will have easy access to the aisles to serve the needs of their young children, and the elderly will be able to move around more easily during communion and at the end of Mass. Finding the family’s favorite seats is a favorite pastime for many of us regular churchgoers. Let’s have our choice of seats demonstrate how welcoming we are to the young, the ill, and the elderly. Thanks for head-ing to those middle seats and making room for others!

In anticipation of returning to the Church, we will present a series of articles to help St. Theresa Community prepare for the move into the Church.

See below for the fifth article of the series.

Text Message Smishing

Scams

St. Theresa Catholic Parish is warning our parishioners of a

dangerous new breed of scams known as “smishing.”

Similar to “phishing” scams — authentic-looking emails that appear to be from Fr. Phil —

“smishing” scams are text messages sent to

mobile phones.

While the risks of smishing scams are potentially

devastating, the defense is simple. According to the

Federal Trade Commission, “Just don't text back.”

Text Message Smishing Scams
