Its money we didn't have and will go into Lifesaver development, etc. We are still selling Party, Play, Pamper raffle tickets at the club. Surf Sports Reminder
With all our end of season carnivals fast approaching surf sports competitors are reminded of our Surf Sports Uniform Policy (from the Surf Sports Handbook): “The Sunshine Beach SLSC Board of Management has approved and endorsed a preferred uniform to be worn by
competitors involved in the Surf Sports Program. Each competitor must adhere to the endorsed Uniform Policy
at all times when representing the club at an approved event. The purpose of the uniform is to create a
professional team culture and image that both the competitor and club can be proud of. The Surf Sports Uniform
to be worn by competitors consists of;
Engine Red Team Jacket
Engine Black Swimwear
White Club Polo Shirt
Red Sun Safe Shirt
Engine Black Board Shorts
Engine High Vis Pink Rashie with Chest Logo
Please Note: If a competitor chooses not to wear the approved “Engine” club swimwear, then that competitor is
permitted to wear a different brand of swimwear of their preference provided that swimwear is plain black in
colour only with no other colouring or patterns, and is similar to the club approved “Engine” swimwear.
Competitors are not permitted to wear any other types of ‘High Vis Rashies” during carnival competition other
than those approved by both the Club and SLSQ.”
And in other news …
Best wishes and a speedy recovery to Dan Moore following his Mick Fanning impersonation in Bali. I’m happy to
report that his drinking hand is still intact!
Unity is strength Craig Law

JUNIOR LIFESAVERS (Nippers)
Welcome back!! I hope your festive season was all that you wanted it to be..., and that you are beginning the New Year with vigour!!!!!
Last Sunday saw a great start back to the season. The waves were challenging, so board use was slim. But it was the perfect opportunity to hone running skills, thanks to Pauline! The sprint track was kept busy, with opportunities for body surfing in between. There was a great turn out for our first week back and so many away on holidays.
This Saturday morning training for U11-U13 will be at Sunshine Beach, in the form of a mini carnival and we have invited Noosa and Coolum to join us. It will be a great session to see where our competitors are at. Please be there.
Branch and State Carnivals are fast approaching, and training will be keeping our competitors busy. Please look after your health at this time!!!
Wishing you all a wonderful week, see you on Sunday. Heather Mackay – Director of Junior Activities

SUNDAY RAFFLE ROSTER
Attention Patrol members Please make sure you sign the Lifesaving Patrol Attendance Log when you do a patrol shift! This is the only written evidence we have of your participation. If you do not complete the log you may not be recognised for all your patrol hours. [PCs please check that this is done before you sign off the log!] Also should the unthinkable happen and you are injured in the line of duty the entry in the log book becomes evidence of your participation and incomplete forms are not acceptable. Don’t void your insurance protection!
If you are injured whist on patrol or during any other approved activity please complete an incident report. As you would with any incident on the beach you should advise Surfcom and then complete the report details online via LIMSOC. If Surfcom cannot be contacted you should fill in the Incident Report Log (IRL) located in the First Aid room and give a copy of the report to Admin. Should the incident involve lifesaving equipment that you believe to be faulty please report it to Scott Summers – Director of Life Saving ASAP so it can be addressed.
Thorough log reporting protects both the first aider and the patient and is vital if compensation is required. All claims require a Workcover Medical Certificate from the doctor who treats you so be sure to request this as soon as you seek medical help. If the incident occurs at a training session or other club activity evidence of your attendance is needed so make sure your participation is noted and for water activities a risk assessment form is also required. Please contact Lifesaving Administration if you require further information.
