• Using elements in the photograph to create a border around the subject, thus focusing attention to it.

Variety of framing: Shapes & Size

• Windows, tunnels, arches or doorways

Frames within Frames: Holes in objects or gates

Using Nature to frame your shots.*Interesting shapes and holes to look through.

Using People to Frame the Shot

• Shooting over shoulders or between heads) etc.

Things you need to decide:

1. Do you want both your frame and your subject to be in focus?

*Use wide enough depth of field

*Small Aperture

• 2. Giving images a sense of depth and layers

• 3. Leading the eye towards your main focal point

• 4. Intriguing your viewer.

-What is inside or behind the frame?

• Framing can become stale and tired if you use it too much. • Will this add to or take away from the image?’
