Pillar 2:Pillar 2:“Passionate Praise to God” “Passionate Praise to God”

Part 1Part 1

Frances CrosbyMother, if I had a choice, I would still choose to remain blind...for when I die, the first face I will ever see will be the face of my blessed Savior.

I will bless the LORD at all times;his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

- Psalm 34:1

The enjoyment of God is the only happiness with which our souls can be satisfied.

- Jonathan Edwards

The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy him forever.

Four Pillars

1.Passionate People of Prayer

2.Passionate People of Praise

Worship is a response to God in all of life, whereby, in love, adoration, confession,

thanksgiving, praise, and service God’s worth is declared.

…everyone who is called by my name, I created for my glory.

OT Praise

NT Praise

Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power,

for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.

God commands his creation to worship

him simply because he is God.

The proper worship of God in one aspect is a willingness to follow

him at all cost.

And then God said to Abraham, “By myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, 18 and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”

“I will sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously;the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.2 The LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation;this is my God, and I will praise him,my father's God, and I will exalt him.3 The LORD is a man of war;the LORD is his name.

1.1. Slave belonged to his master.Slave belonged to his master.

2.2. Bow down in worship.Bow down in worship.

You want fuel for your worship, know what it

means to be forgiven by God.

How lovely is your dwelling place,O LORD of hosts!2 My soul longs, yes, faintsfor the courts of the LORD;my heart and flesh sing for joyto the living God.

3 Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young,at your altars, O LORD of hosts,my King and my God.4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise!

1. We declare his infinite worth.2. He is our creator, and that we treasure

him more than anything else that he has made.

3. Passionate praise and worship comes from the heart that knows the gospel deeply.

4. We enjoy God. 5. God enjoys us. 6. God draws near to us when we

worship.
