Join MEDITRACKNET and
start designing YOUR OWN
nodes network
Track all YOUR tags belonging
to YOUR network, anywhere
Search your tags by Plate or
Typology
Implement your own tailor
made gate access policy
Check what’s in your yards,
for real-time inventories
Build 3rd party value-added
services for your customers
Equip your nodes with simple
and low-cost hardware (RFID
antennas and readers)
Provide your trucks & trailers
fleet with MEDITRACKNET
compliant tags
THEN YOU CAN…

THROUGH INTEGRATING YOUR TERMINAL OPERATING SYSTEM WITH THE MEDITRACKNET PLATFORM, VIA OPEN WEBSERVICES

MEDITRACKNET SYSTEM MOST RELEVANT CONCEPTS (1)
A network of independent sub-systems!
• SCALABILITY: each user can define his own sub-system, through an easy-to-use graphical toolfor drawing the position of each node, with its related gates and antennas. The user canalways expand his sub-system in accordance with his growing needs, adding more nodes, gatesand antennas
• MEDITRACKNET simply collects all the data sent by each RFID Reader in a Cloud-based ITsystem, making them available to the (proprietary) user through a geo-referenced interfaceand/or using trusted webservices
Each sub-system has one owner (the user who defines it), and the following hierarchy, made up of a logical layout (nodes, gates) and a physical layout:
• One ore more NODES. Each node is made up of:
• One or more GATES. Each gate is made up of:
• One or more RFID Readers. Each reader is then connected to:
• One ore more ANTENNAS (typically, one for the “IN” and one for “OUT” flow). Each antenna is in charge of revealing:
• RFID TAGS, mounted on trucks, trailers and semitrailers

MEDITRACKNET SYSTEM MOST RELEVANT CONCEPTS (2)
A network of independent sub-systems!
In any case, USERS PRIVACY IS OUR CONCERN. The MEDITRACKNET platform:
• Does NOT store in the cloud users’ commercial sensitive data
• Each user has access only to information generated by his own network
• The data stored in the cloud are only those carried by the RFID Tags. In particular:
• Tag ID Number; Vehicle Plate; Vehicle Typology (Truck, Semitrailer, Trailer)
• Timestamp (Date, Time, User Code, Node Code, Gate Code, Reader Code, Antenna Code)
• Dangerous Good Flag; Tamperized Seal Flag
The MEDITRACKNET System can be used in two different ways:
• As a stand-alone, basic-level, tracking system (for those users with limited needs, i.e. a small company who needs “in” and “out” tracking of a small fleet between two separate warehouses)
• As a middleware solution, cloud-based and webservice oriented, for more complex users who wants to integrate the tracking data provided by the MEDITRACKNET platform with their IT systems and produce more sophisticated information

MEDITRACKNET – SOFTWARE INTERFACE
JUST SIGN UP ON THE MEDITRACKNET WEB PORTAL,AND THEN…
• DESIGN YOUR NODESUsing a Graphical User Interface, you can draw the lines who delimit your node. A node is a set of one or more gates
• DESIGN YOUR GATESUsing a Graphical User Interface, you can draw the lines who delimit your gate. A gate is always referred to one ore more RFID Readers and Antennas
• REGISTER YOUR HARDWARE (RFID READERS & ANT.)through declaring some technical data such as the gate to which the reader is connected, the readers’ IP Address, the antennas connected and few more information
• CLICK ON THE “ACTIVATE” BUTTON and…
THAT’S IT!!! You’re ready to track
Livorno Port Authority MEDITRACKNET - Presentation, Firenze 16.12.2014 – page N. 16
MEDITRACKNET – TAGS MANAGEMENT
AFTER HAVING SIGNED UP ON THE WEB PORTAL…
• BUY YOUR TAG SETSUsing your preferred tags provider, giving him vehicles data (plates, typology, etc.) and the open MEDITRACKNET specifications, for receiving sets of compliant tags, ready-to-use
• MOUNT THE TAGS ON YOUR VEHICLESUsing cable tags for your trailers and semi-trailers and windshield tags for your trucks. This operation has to be done only once.
• AUTHENTICATE YOUR MOUNTED TAGSthrough verifying the association between the vehicle plate and the data stored in that tag. This operation has to be done only once, using a mobile RFID reader.
• UPLOAD THE AUTHENTICATED TAG LIST ON THE MEDITRACKNET WEB PORTAL and…
THAT’S IT!!! Now you’re tracking your fleet…

Allowing goods and information traceability through integrating RFID technologies with all
the IT systems & TOS (Terminal Operating System) adopted in each subnode belonging to the
Livorno Logistic Platform, through developing a low-cost, open and scalable middleware
Pilot Project 1: experimentation of DANGEROUS GOODS RFID Traceability between the
Motorways of the Sea Terminals located both in the Livorno Port and in the Livorno
“Vespucci” inland port.
Pilot Project 2: experimentation of Ship-to-Shore RFID Traceability by developing and testing
a Mobile RFID Tracking Station for monitoring boarding/unboarding trailer & semitrailer
operations. This mobile station will constitute an additional “Node” in the MEDITRACKNET
system architecture.
