The project explores the seasonality of food thorugh a simple visual approach. Its aim is educational as well as practical; shopping for seasonal vegetables and fruits is in fact both economically and environmentally more sustainable.

Conceived for the Italian market, the project includes an analysis of the panorama of food production and distribution throughout the country, supporting the concept that eating better means living better. The project is completed by the prototype of a shopping tool comprising the two wheels.

WHERE: the two charts, one for vegetables and one for fruits, explore how much of main quality certified products is distributed for the internail market and how much of it is exported.

HOW: the amount of land per region available for farming and how much of that is biological, in conversion or under utilized.

WHY: the graphs in this section show the connection between the number of quality certified products and the quality of life in each region of Italy. Eating better means living better.

WHO: the number of food producers, preparers and importers in Italy.

PROTOTYPE

The two wheels are turned into a product to be used as an educational shopping tool. When placing the transparent slice over each month the names of the produce cover the color strip they represent, showing if each of them is in season or not. The two sides of the wheel are coordinated so to show the same month at the same time on both its sides.
