Introduction Welcome to Lynn University! All of our courses are deployed using the Canvas learning management system, accessible from both iPads and computers. This guide will demonstrate how to download the Canvas student app, and how to use the Safari browser to access your courses in Canvas.

1. From your iPad, tap Apps@Work icon.

2. Select the Canvas student app.

This will download and install the Canvas student app on your iPad. The Canvas student app is also available on the App Store.

Access Canvas with Safari browser Another way to access Canvas is by using the Safari browser.

1. Enter Lynn.Instructure.com into Safari’s web-browser. 2. Sign in with your Lynn University credentials.

From the Dashboard, the course cards display all of the courses you’re enrolled in. For this example, we will select CAN 101 – BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO CANVAS.

Syllabus Tab & Syllabus Acknowledge Form We’re then brought to the Home page. Notice the Start Here module? All students will need to complete the Start Here module for every course as a prerequisite before the rest of the course may be released.

1. To begin, tap the Start Here module. Within the Start Here module, a list of items with statements and other components from the complete syllabus are listed, as well as the Syllabus Acknowledgement Form.

Now, let’s review the complete syllabus. Tap Syllabus located in the course navigation panel on the left. Here, you will see the course syllabus in its entirety, saved as a PDF file. Our goal is to download the syllabus, sign our name to acknowledge that we’ve read and agreed to it, save it to OneDrive, our cloud-based storage-system, and submit the signed syllabus to its respective assignment located in the Start Here module.

Downloading a file from Canvas to OneDrive

1. Tap the syllabus to open.

2. Then, tap anywhere on the page to display a banner that reads Open in iBooks, on the

right, and More, on the left. 3. Select More.

4. Select OneDrive app.

5. Choose Files.

For this example, we will save the syllabus in this pre-created Attachments folder so we can sign it and mark it up.

6. Select the Attachments Folder

7. Press Upload Here.

The file will upload to OneDrive.

You will see a checkmark within a cloud, signifying that the document has been successfully uploaded to OneDrive.

Save a file to OneDrive

1. Go to OneDrive to locate the saved syllabus.

2. Tap on the syllabus to open it.

After you’ve read the syllabus in its entirety, scroll down to the Acknowledgements page. You will see a list of tools on the upper right corner of the screen.

1. Select the pen tool. A tool ribbon will appear on the left. You can select the Type tool to print your name.

2. Select the pencil tool with a fine point.

You can also change the color of the ink if you’d like.

3. Use your iPad pencil to sign your name.

The changes automatically save.

Submit an Assignment from OneDrive to Canvas

1. Return to the assignment via using Safari’s web-browser. 2. Select the Syllabus Acknowledgement Form from the Start Here module.

3. Press the blue Submit Assignment button at the top right of the page.

4. Then, select Choose File.

5. Select OneDrive from the list.

6. Tap the Attachments folder to see inside.

7. Select the CAN 101 Sample Syllabus.

We now see it attached to the assignment, and have the option of adding a comment before submitting.

After you’ve entered your comment.

8. Press the blue Submit Assignment button.

You will then see a Submission Comment from Canvas as a banner notification at the top of the screen.
