‘Fifty Days of Transformation’

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be

transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good,

pleasing, and perfect will.

Romans 12:2 (NIV)

Last week: Transformed in my Physical Health.

1. My body is God’s property. 2. God expects me to manage my body. 3. My body will be resurrected after I die. 4. My body is connected to the body of Christ.

5. The Holy Spirit lives in my body. 6. Jesus bought my body on the cross!

‘by the renewing of your mind’ Romans 12:2

I want ‘doxology’ not ‘theology’.

Animals: instinct

Man: Mind and reason

‘Come let us reason together saith the Lord.’ Isa. 1:18

‘I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on

you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be

controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.’

Psalm 32:8-9

‘Change Your Life By Changing Your Mind!’

-mental transformation.

Jamie Coots, the pastor of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Middlesboro, Ky. dies…

For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their

zeal is not based on knowledge. Romans 10:2

Why I Must Manage My Mind: 3 reasons

1. Because my thoughts control my life.

“Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.” Proverbs 4:23(TEV)

-if you don’t think it, you don’t do it!

Why I Must Manage My Mind: 3 reasons

2. Because my mind is the battle ground for sin!

‘I love to do God’s will so far as my new nature is concerned; but there’s something else deep within me that is at war with my mind and wins the fight and makes me a slave to the sin

within me. In my mind I want to be God’s servant, but instead I find myself still enslaved to sin.’ Romans 7:22-23(LB)

-whatever gets your attention gets you!

Why I Must Manage My Mind: 3 reasons

3. Because it’s the key to peace and happiness!

‘If your sinful nature controls your mind, there is death. But if the Holy Spirit controls your mind, there is life and

peace.’ Romans 8:6(NLT)

-a unmanaged mind leads to tension.

Three Daily Choices For A Healthy Mind

1. I must feed my mind with truth.

‘People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every Word of God.’ Matthew 4:4(NLT)

-junk in, junk out!

Truth is not positive thinking!

‘The Power of Positive Thinking’

by Norman Vincent Peale

Chapter 7: Expect the Best and Get It: “According to your faith in yourself, according to your faith in your job, according to your faith in

God this far will you get and no further”

Peale’s worry breaking formula: -the first thing every morning before we get up we should say out loud “I believe” three times.

Faith is no better than the object in which it is placed!

Faith is not self-confidence. It is taking God at His Word and responding accordingly.

Peale: I feel happy, I feel healthy, I feel terrific.

Apostle Paul: -Lord you are on the throne today! -Lord, your love for me is unconditional! -Lord, I want you to trust you in all things today!

3. Daily Choices For A Healthy Mind

When? All the time! All day long.

“I rise early…to cry out for help and to put my hope in your words.” Psalm 119:147(NLT)

“Lord, how I love your Word. I think about it all day long.” Psalm 119:97

“Even in the darkest of night, your teachings fill my mind.” Psalm 16:7(CEV)

-there are 7,000 promises in the Bible!

2. I must free my mind from destructive thoughts.

‘Those who are dominated by their sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the

Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.’ Romans 8:5(NLT)

-our minds need to be liberated!

Though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with

are not the weapons of the world. Our weapons have divine power to demolish strongholds. We

demolish any argument and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we TAKE CAPTIVE EVERY THOUGHT to make it

obedient to Christ.’ II Cor. 10:3-5

3. I Must focus my mind on the right things.

-you become what you think about.

a. Think about Jesus.

‘Keep your mind on Jesus Christ’ II Timothy 2:8(CEV)

Whatever I flirt with- I’ll fall for!

“Think about Jesus’ example. He held on while wicked people were doing evil things to him. So do not get tired and stop trying.” Hebrews 12:3(NCV)

b. Think about others.

‘Don’t just think about your own affairs but be interested in others, too, and in what they are doing’. Philippians 2:4(LB)

“Let us think about each other and help each other to show love and do good deeds.”

Hebrews 10:24(NCV)

Our culture: -me first. -have it your way. -you deserve a break today. -looking out for No. 1

c. Think about eternity.

“Let heaven fill your thoughts. No not think only about things down here on earth.”

Colossians 3:2(NLT)

-he is so heavenly minded that…

‘The Lord is my shepherd, so I have all I need.’ Psalm 23:1

‘No eye has seen, no ear heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him’

I Cor. 2:9(NLT)

I must: -feed my mind. -free my mind.

-focus my mind.
