v29-36 What happened that night    First born sons and animals were killed & Loud crying throughout Egypt (v29-30)

    King asked the Jews to leave (v31-32)

    The Jews left in hurry with unleavened dough; Egyptians also gave them gold and silver jewlellery (showing respect) (v33-36)

v37-39     600000 men left    baked unleavened dough (no time to get their food ready or to prepare leavened dough) 

v40-v42 v42 a night God kept watch to bring them out of Egypt

2 Passover Festival and Its Importance

(a) Passover meal was like the historical event it remembered in the

following 4 ways:

- A lamb : (from Mk 14:12)

- Unleavened bread (from Mk 14:22)

- Wine (from Mk 14:23)

- Families ate together

(b) Importance of Passover to the Jews

• It commemorated the exodus from Egypt

• It marked the end of slavery from Egyptian rule
