A two-day conference co-sponsored by the Guidelines International Network North America (G-I-N NA) and the Section on Evidence Based Health Care (SEBHC) of the New York Academy of Medicine.

Conference Mission1. To provide a platform for constructive dia-

logue and collaboration between otherwise disparate perspectives that a!ect develop-ment of evidence based guidelines, their trans-lation to clinical practice, and their value and impact on health care and patient outcomes.

2. To illuminate the perspectives, processes, val-ues, principles, and circumstances that collec-tively impact health care pol-icy and its relationship to sci-entific evidence and clinical practice guidelines.

3. To highlight best practices for guideline development, dis-semination, and implementa-tion for producing clear, ac-tionable, scientifically sound, and trustworthy guidance that can improve quality of care, reduce unexplained variations, and avoid inappropriate or po-tentially harmful interventions.

The address this mission, the con-ference, co-chaired by Richard Rosenfeld (G-I-N NA) and Peter Wyer (SEBHC), is crafted around the following themes:

• From bench to trench: How evidence and guidelines shape health care policy.

• What makes a clinical practice guideline trust-worthy?

• Minding the message: The senders, givers, and users of guideline information.

• Making it happen: Adapting, implementing, and tracking.
