Electric Vehicle Types

The EV Market penetration will depend on the fuel price, the national incentives schemes, the new EV technologies, current economic barriers, the energy distribution network capabilities, and the acceptance of the new mobility patterns by the Users.

There are different market penetration studies in the current literature: - Clement [et al] (2008). In Belgium PHEVs at 28% Market Share of the total market by 2030. - Hadle and Tsvetkova (2008). In the USA PHEVs at 25% Market Share by 2020 and reaching 50 million vehicles in 2030.

The IFA Technologie Research shows in the intermediate Scenario 2 an annual compound growth rate at 13.3% in 20 years (2030 vs 2010) This scenario requires Government subsidies, etc… The EU Passenger Cars growth was at 4.6% (CAGR 2008 vs 2000) The Scenario 2 forecasts a Mix of Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles at 20% vs Battery electric vehicle at 8% and Full hybrid at 13%. The German Government forecasts 1 mill. EV by 2020 and 5 mill. by 2030.

All the surveys related to the electric energy required by the electric vehicles

show that the impact of electric vehicles on the total energy consumption could be considered quite negligible.

In the current simulations even in the extreme of EV accounting for the 30% of the vehicle fleet, the energy consumption will not represent more than 2.5% of the total amount.

When the EV share accounts for more than 15% the peak demand starts getting very high values and it is very important to shift the power request to the night to avoid the problem of network overloading, and at the same time using the wind energy.

Level of Infrastructure fora target of 2000 EV carsin Ireland.- 1500 Public charge points- 2000 At-home charge points- 29 Fast charge points

Infrastructure. The Irish case

- EV Fast Charge spots cover Motorway and National Primary routes in Ireland- 29 Fast Charge spots selected and located at approx. 60km distance from each other

Infrastructure. The Irish case

The Infrastructure will allow the normal charging at 100 or 200V (15 A) ranging from 7 to 14 hours recharging time and the quick charging at 3p 200V 50Hz with a 30 minutes recharging time. Quick charging stations were developed by the Tokyo Electric Power Co

with Subaru, Nissan and Mitsubishi

- Quick recharging station and the Quick Charger.- More than 70 chargers in service- Quick chargers at approx. 10.3 km

Three items become very important due to the low investment and simplicity:

RCD- Residual current device allows to trip if any current arise and a current default is present. This measure provides full safety.

The control pilot conductor is required to verify that the vehicle is properly connected, monitoring of the earth conductor integrity, energization and de-energization of the system, etc…

CIRCONTROL EV Product range

The Demand Management disconnects the recharging circuit if the contracted power limit is exceeded (avoiding the tripping of the MCB). RCD protection is provided.

Residential Application

Access Control or Pre-paid RFID cards supplied by the Parking Owner

The Parking Owner bills according to the electricity consumption. RechargeEquipment with built-in Ethernet communications.

Through the PLC-System theUtility reads the Electricity-metersand bill the electricity consumptionaccordingly.

The Utility can bill the home andrecharge consumptions in thesame invoice to the User.

Without a car in the parking slot theDevice cannot be connected.

RCD protection

Control to avoid exceeding the contracted power limit.

and control of disturbances in thenetwork (Harmonics)

Private Parking (PLC-System)

Shopping Centres Parking

Without Communication With Communication

The Parking servicecan be added to theelectricity consumptionby the Parking Owner

Some loyalty programmescan be implemented, likenot charging a certain amount based on total of purchase

The Parking Owner can bill remotely. The System allows the Demand managementand control of disturbances in the network(harmonics)

Car Fleet Parking

Multipoint Management System is very important, since several cars can be recharging at the same time. Optimum Management of consumption, balance between phases and harmonic filtering are required.

Charging Stations along streets

RFID Cards payment (prepaid) for Cars and Motocycles are demanded due to the low amount of the electricity charge RS485, Ethernet, GSM and GPRS Communication systems can be built-in Energy Management to keep track of the network is required (PSS software)

Fast Charging Stations on roads

Fast Charging infrastructure is defined for rated powers up to 250 kW with a related charging time of less than 10 minutes. Our equipment is designed for 7.2 kW/32 A single phase and 42 kW/63 A

3 phase with a related charging time of aprox. 30 minutes.
