Measurement principle In inductive conductivity measurement,a transmitting coil generates a magneticalternating field that induces an electricvoltage in a liquid. The ions present inthe liquid enable a current flow whichincreases with increasing ionconcentrations.
The current in the liquid generatesa magnetic alternating field in thereceiving coil. The resulting current inthe receiving coil is measured and usedto determine the conductivity value. Theconductivity serves as a measure of ionconcentration.
This measurement principle has thefollowing advantages:• No electrodes, therefore no
polarisation• Error-free measurement in media with
a tendency to sedimentate• Complete galvanic isolation of
measurement from medium.
Measuring technology according tothe purity law
The sensor, injection-moulded for highlychemically, mechanically and thermallyresistant PEEK (polyether ether ketone),does not have joints or crevices and istherefore biologically safe.
The temperature sensor Pt 100 is indirect thermal contact with the mediumvia the stainless steel thermalconductivity socket. This assuresextremely fast temperature response(t90 < 5 s).
The use of special components andmaterials makes the sensor suitable forcontinuous exposure to temperaturesof +125 °C and brief exposures(max. 30 min) to +140 °C for sterilization.

Mounting
The minimum pipe socket diameterdepends on the sensor used.
The pipe socket and the wall distanceof the built-in sensor determine theinstallation factor.
Installation factor The electrical conductivity of the liquidprimarily depends on the ionconcentration. However, installation andsensor geometry must also be takeninto account for measurement. The cellconstant completely describes thesensor geometry.
If the distance from the wall is sufficient(a > 15 mm), then it is not necessary toconsider the installation factor (f = 1.00).If the distance from the wall is smaller,then the installation factor increases inthe case of electrically insulating pipes(f > 1) and decreases in the case ofelectrically conductive pipes (f < 1).
