I am addicted! Boy, it feels good to have admitted it. Now your question is, “What is he addicted
to?” An addict or as some say “a junky”, is someone who is controlled by something that takes over
their life. We almost always use this term in negative situations such as drugs or something that
destroys life. Not so in this case. I am admitting an addiction to the Word of God. Unlike most addictions,
I do not want to break my addiction but want to surrender stronger to it and let it control more of my life. Why?
Because I want to look at the world through the lens of God’s Word and not look at the Word through the lens
of the world and its philosophy. I want it to shape me and give a Biblical world view about life and things per-
taining to spiritual matters. I want it to teach me how to love and how to live; to school me on how to both give
and receive grace. I want the Bible to control my thoughts, actions, and desires. Are you an addict? If you are
not, let me get you hooked.
Over the next few months as God allows, I want to focus on different beliefs we have as Baptists. They
are well stated in The Baptist Faith and Message. Here is Article I regarding what we believe about the scrip-
tures and scriptural support for you to take a look at.
I. The Scriptures
The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a
perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mix-
ture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by
which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian un-
ion, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All
Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.
Ex. 24:4; Deut. 4:1-2, 17:19; Joshua 8:34; Psalm 19:7-10, 119:11, 89, 105, 140; Is 34:16, 40:8; Jer. 15:16, 36:1-
32; Matt. 5:17-18, 22:29; Luke 21:33, 24:44-46; Jn. 5:39, 16:13-15, 17:17; Acts 2:16; 17:11; Rom. 15:4, 16:25-
26; II Tim 3:15-17; Heb. 1:1-2, 4:12; I Pet. 1:25; II Pet. 1:19-21.
February 2014 Happy Valentines Day!!
This is a perfect time to share
a bit of love.
Give a gift, send a card, speak
a word of encouragement and
care.
People need to know they are
valued and special.
Jesus gave His love to us and
we are expected to share that
love with others.
This month why not be inten-
tional in how you express to
others that Jesus loves them?

Hello Everyone:
This month kicks off the beginning of practice
for our Easter Cantata! With the amazing out-
come of the Christmas Cantata, we can’t wait to
see what the Lord has in store for our celebration
of His resurrection!
I would like to remind you of our worship a
couple of Sundays ago. Edgar preached on Wor-
ship! The Lord had been speaking to me about
that as well, and I had some thing to say before
the worship service began. Now that I have re-
freshed your memory, I would like to give you
something to think about this month.
We are more than blessed to live in America!
No matter what your opinion is on the current
state of our country, no matter what your finan-
cial situation, and no matter what else is going on
in your life, you are blessed. You have a shirt on
your back, some gas in your car, a family or
church family that loves you and more impor-
tantly, a God that loves you. These alone are
more than most have in a lifetime. This is a rea-
son to PRAISE THE LORD! On the other hand,
we have struggles. Sometimes, there is more
month than money. There are relationship issues
or you may just be down in the dumps. THIS IS
ANOTHER REASON TO PRAISE THE LORD.
In these times, as Christians, we know that God is
with us. Pray to God. As the popular “Footprints
in the Sand” poem goes, “You are not alone!. HE
IS CARRYING YOU! This month, as always, I
will be praying that you will find time to praise
God for all He does for you, in your personal life,
at work, home or church. God bless! Have a great
February! Zack

Darts & Hearts!
Do you read the editorial page in the newspaper to see who gets darts and who gets hearts in
our community? I am so glad that with Jesus all
the “old darts” of the past are gone and every day is a new day. His Holy Spirit gives us the strength to de-dart our lives and the assurance that our heart is renewed each day.
II Cor. 5:17 “ Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new.”
Happy Valentines Day!!
