REMINDER TO 2ND GRADE PARENTS Because of the schedule conflict with Bishop Blair's farewell Mass, First Reconciliation has been rescheduled and will take place on Tuesday, De-cember 3, at 7:00 p.m. in the church.
SJA “GIVING TREE” PROJECT Next weekend begins the season of Advent and it’s also when we kick off our Giving Tree Service Project. Be sure to look for the “Giving Trees” in the narthex. You can’t miss them as they’ll be cov-ered with a myriad of red hearts. Each heart will be labeled with Christmas wishes of area nursing home residents from Swan Pointe, Elizabeth Scott, Ridgewood Manor, and Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek. We need YOU, our SJA parishioners, to help make these wishes come true by taking a heart and then purchasing the requested item(s). Plan now to share your treasure with these nursing home residents who look forward to these gifts each year. Our St. Joan of Arc 5th graders, assisted by teachers and parents, will deliver the gifts to the nursing homes on December 16th. The Giving Tree committee is looking for “elves” to help in a couple of different areas. We need elves to help with checking off gifts, wrapping and organizing on the weekend of Dec. 14 and Dec. 15. We also need a couple of shopper elves to pur-chase some miscellaneous gift items on Sunday afternoon of that same weekend. If you can spare approximately two hours on either of these days, please call Carol at (419) 868-8185 or Jennifer at (419) 297-4196.

BIBLE STUDY Do you want to “Meet Jesus again for the first time?” Join a new bible study group which will begin after the holidays on Monday, Jan-uary 6, at 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 7, at 9:30 a.m. We will be using the book Invitation to the New Testament by Alice Camille. ($10.00) This study will look at the four Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, some of the letters, and the book of Revelation. In this study we will “get into the skin of the early disciples” and look at heroes of that period with the hope of drawing closer to Jesus, becoming a more ardent follower, and living so as to share the message of Jesus in our daily life. Sign the form below and detach and send to Sister Elaine or call the parish office to register.

FROM BISHOP BLAIR At the recent meeting in Baltimore of all the U.S. Bishops, we followed closely the terrible plight of the Filipino people in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. The Bishops left the meeting confident that the Catholic people of our country will respond generously to the urgent need for assistance. I know that parishes have already been asked to take a col-lection for Catholic Relief Services (CRS) for this purpose. (Mail checks payable to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Toledo, marked Typhoon Haiyan, to Catholic Charities,1933 Spielbusch Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43604.) I want to add a personal word of encour-agement to you to make a generous gift for our brothers and sis-ters in need. Finally, as I write this letter, I have just paid a visit to Clo-verdale in our own diocese in the aftermath of the storm that passed through the area on November 17. The parish church of St. Barbara, Cloverdale, was completely destroyed, together with the former rectory which houses the parish offices. We join the people of Cloverdale in giving thanks that at least no one was seriously injured or killed, and we pledge our prayerful solidarity. May God bless all of us as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving for all that He has given to us.
