Fisheries Industrial Zone

Duqm Fisheries Industrial Estate : the

Opportunity for Growth of Oman’s Fish Sector

• Duqm will be the hub of a step-wise expansion in

the fisheries sector – catching, importing,

processing and distribution, exporting plus all the

dependent trades.

• Duqm should be able to attract all categories of

fishing vessels, including the largest, from other

countries operating in the Indian Ocean.

• Higher fish landings will spawn much larger fish processing and transportation activities, and therefore many new small businesses as well as investment opportunities for older businesses, and jobs for Omanis.

• The fish industry in Duqm will be an industrial cluster. It will be encouraged by the excellent communication links (road, rail and air) planned for the Duqm development.
