Symptoms of YMVYellow specks on young leaves

Irregular yellow & green patches & sight puckering & reduced leaf size

Characteristic of MYMV

Yield loss due to YMV

Collar rot – Sclerotium rolfsi

• Mycelial growth on the collar region of the plant

• Moderately high temperature 25 ˚C

• High moisture, crop canopy, soil reaction, high organic matter, etc.

Charcoal rot Macrophominia phaseolina, • Infected seedling show

a reddish brown discoloration from the soil line up the stem.

• The discolored area changes from reddish brown to dark brown or black.

• Infected tissues, when split open, look as if they had been in charcoal dust.

• Myrothecium roridum

Brown leaf spot of soybean

Anthraconose (Colletoricum truncatum)

Integrated Management

1. Use of resistant/tolerant varieites For yellow mosaic prone areas select – PK 1241, PK 1189, PK 1162, PK 1158, Brag/ SL 317& 452, SL

443, SL 450 PK 416, SL 427, PKB 25, SL 457, PK 1042, PK 1135.

2. Seed treatment with Thiram + carboxin (37+37%) 2g/kg, carbendazim + thiram (1:1) 3g/kg

3. Crop rotation – Soybean should be taken only in kharif season and rotate with maize, jowar, pigeonpea

4. Use proper dose of fertilizer and specially potassium

5. Observe the field periodically and rough out the YMV infected plants

6. Spray of insecticides like imidaclorprid or thiomethoxam 1ml/litre

7. Spray at initiation of disease or at 35 DAS:– Carbendazim 50 WP @ -.05 % or– Thiophanate methyl 70 WP @ 0.05 % or – Copper oxychloride (COC) 50 WP @ 0.2 % or – Hexaconazole 5 EC @ 0.1 %

Sprays to be repeated after 15 days.
