A MATTER OF PRINCIPLES

WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE.

HARDWARE EXAMPLE: ARMULINOREADY FOR BUSINESS - WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE

IS THE COMBINATION OF AN ACTIVE NFC TRANSPONDER WITH CRYPTO CHIP CONNECTED TO AN I2C BUS AND SOCKET IN ADDITION TO A POWERFUL MCU SUPPORTING BLE, THREAD AND 6LOWPAN.

IT’S AN IOT DEVICE BY ITSELF.

Crypto strictly off the bus

Blockchain agnostic

100% Arduino IDE compatible

Open toolchain

Open API

Multi RF stack support

NFC and BLE on same board

MCU on board

Energy harvesting

IOT, ISM AND PHYSICAL OBJECTS.TARGET MARKET

WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

CUSTOMER: INNOGY (INNOVATION ARM OF RWE, GERMAN ENERGY CO.), PRESENTED AT CONSENSUS. MAY 2017 (NEW YORK CITY)

RECENT POC -TWIN OF THINGS

BRIEF INTRODUCTIONTWIN OF THINGS IS A SOLUTION FOR SECURING THE OWNERSHIP AND PROVENANCE OF EVERYDAY OBJECTS BY USING BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY IN COMBINATION WITH CRYPTO NFC TAGS AND AN ANDROID APP.

RIDDLE&CODE‘S PATENTED TECHNOLOGY ALLOWS USERS TO STICK NON-REMOVABLE INLAY NFC TAGS TO OBJECTS AND THEN PROVISION THEM WITH PUBLIC KEYS AND METADATA. PUBLIC KEYS, METADATA AND SIGNATURES ARE THEN TURNED INTO BLOCKCHAIN CERTIFICATES.

THE ANDROID APP IS USED FOR THREE PURPOSES:1- PROVISIONING THE TAGS2- CREATING BLOCKCHAIN TRANSACTIONS – AND:3- THE VALIDATION OF TAGS DATA AND BLOCKCHAIN TRANSACTIONS

BY USING ELLIPTIC CURVE PKI-ENABLED NFC TAGS ALL THE TRUST AND SECURITY OF BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY GET EMBEDDED INTO OBJECTS IN AN UNCOMPROMISABLE WAY.

IT IS ALSO A VERY ILLUSTRATIVE AND ELEGANT SOLUTION TO MAKE BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY COMPREHENSIBLE FOR NON-EXPERTS

ANDROID APP WORKFLOW

SOMEIDENTIFIED USE CASES

- Managing the Sharing Economy / Vehicle Fleets

- Smart Charging Stations

- Helping to secure the Supply Chain

- Smart Shipping Containers

- Anti-Fraud or product piracy: Protecting Fashion Luxury Goods or protecting Artworks

- Insurance Industry / Smart Contracts

- Cold Wallet: Big funds are holding back investments on cryptocurrencies because of the way private keys are stored, either in regular databases or in physical support: this is unsafe or inconvenient -RIDDLE&CODE has the solution to make private keys safe and convenient at the same time.

SOME USE CASE OPTIONS

MACHINE IDENTITY + SECURELY FEED IN / WITHDRAWALOF ENERGY + REAL TIME BIDDING

SMART PLUGS

THE ISSUES1.LACK OF CONTROL IN THE ACCESS TO ENERGY BY USING SMART PLUGS LOCATED IN PRIVATE AND

PUBLIC PLACES

2.USERS WITH A SURPLUS BETWEEN CONTRACTED AND CONSUMED ENERGY CAN’T TRADE THEM AT MARKET VALUE

4.INTEROPERABILITY BETWEEN DIFFERENT BLOCKCHAIN INFRASTRUCTURES

OUR SOLUTIONWE ENABLE:

1. SMART PLUGS WITH A UNIQUE MACHINE IDENTITY. AVOIDING POTENTIAL FRAUDS

2. CREATION AND APPROVAL OF TRANSACTIONS IN THE DEVICE (FEED IN & WITHDRAW OF ENERGY)

4. HARMONIZATION OF THE SMART PLUG WITH THE IDENTITY OF THE USER, PROVIDER AND PAYMENT SYSTEM. THUS, WE CAN CONNECT IT TO ANY BLOCKCHAIN PUBLIC LEDGER INFRASTRUCTURE

USEFUL APPLICATIONS

HOW WE DO IT?

ON HARDWARE LEVEL WE CONNECT THE SMART PLUG TO ANY PUBLIC LEDGER INFRASTRUCTURE.

WE DELIVER A CRYPTO WALLET AND THE REQUIRED SOFTWARE LEVELS TO ALL NEEDS

1

CONTROL ACCESS TO THE ENERGY

REAL ESTATE CONSTRUCTOR CAN TAKE THE SMART PLUG WITH HIM AND USE IT IN THE CUSTOMERS HOUSE FOR BUILDING PURPOSES. THE BILLING WILL GO DIRECTLY TO HIM

TRADING THE SURPLUS OF ENERGY

A USER GONE ON VACATION WITH A SURPLUS BETWEEN THE ENERGY CONTRACTED AND CONSUMED, CAN NOW TRADE IT WITH AOTHER PERSONS IN REAL TIME MARKET VALUE

2

AUTONOMOUS DRIVINGCurrent Situation

Flexible car insurance tariffs based on the driver‘s behaviour (measured by a telematics box in the car) is offered in the meantime by several insurance companies, including the big ones such as ALLIANZ in Germany or UNIQA in Austria. While the data taken from the telematics device is used to incentivice a certain behaviour, the data flow is currentlynot fully protected and the whole process is not elaborated enough to provide a sufficient foundation for theinsurance industry to cover the risk potential that will be posed by the age of autonomous cars.

Some of the following topics have to be solved before:

- Securing the flow of data from the car and between cars to protect the privacy as well as the pratical andcommercial interest of all parties involved

- Preventing the telematics device from being hacked and preventing the car / telematics unit from being ‚cleaned‘ after an accident

- Creating a trusted solution for the exchange and verification of data that will be fed into smart contracts, regulating the insurance layer and other traffic management or other official or commercial systems.

Riddle & Code will protecttelematic boxes insidecars, providing them with a unique identity

RIDDLE&CODE chips will beembedded into telematicboxes.

This will give a unique digital identity to the car / itstelematics unit.

Sending the datavia mobile networks

The telematics unit / car islinked via mobile datanetworks with the web…

Multi-signature transaction dataregistered to the blockchain.

…depending on the detailsfixed in the smart insurancecontract, certain relevant data are signed and written into the blockchain.

When the car will become autonomous…:

1. ...all partners in the value chain will be able tobuild upon a proven and trusted platform forexchange of data coming from cars

2. ...all necessary business rules or regulatoryaspects can be incorporated, benefitting fromthe trusted hardware components and thesecure data transmission that can also guarantee the privacy of car owners / drivers.

The electric car is charged eliminating the middleman

INTERNATIONAL TRADING DOCSCurrent Situation

Paper-based documents are still used for documenting the existence of physical inventory.

In most instances the document is also the certificate representing the value of the inventory. Handing over the document means handing over the value.

Due to the fact that these documents can be forged, trust needs to be established and re-established before a trade can be made.

Despite the inefficiencies and dangers involved, paper processes are still at large within international trade. Legal regimes that are slow to change and cultures that value physical documentation, certificates and stamps above database entries are the two main reasons for this.

As an example a single container being shipped from Africa to the port of Rotterdam can take up to 200 documents.

RIDDLE&CODE technology breaks through the physical/digital divide to strike a balance between the demand for paper documentation and the advantages that blockchain technology has to offer. This is done by means of combining the following three technologies to form a micro computer:

- A micro-controller – that can run blockchain algorithms

- A crypto-accelerator (WiseKey – VAULT IC)

- Active NFC transponder is also embedded into the paper

Due to advances in miniaturization this crypto computer can be embedded into the paper to act as a tag.

If someone peals it off, the antenna breaks and the chip gets destroyed. Therefore the document gets de-validated.

The energy is harvested from ordinary mobile phones via induction when the phone is used as a reader or a writer.

Advantages

- Guarantees security and trust in international trade

- Transfer of blockchain technologies to physical paper

- Possible creation of new business models based on tokenized inventory
