PIECES OF ADVICE FOR MY FRIEND,

THE YOUNG DOCTOR

Think, do not simply memorize.

Read and learn something new every

day.

The diagnosis is like a puzzle game: put the

symptoms together in the right position and

suddenly everything will become very simple.

There are not difficult diagnoses. There are only situations when

doctors do not see the evidences.

Do not be sure of any diagnosis until the patient is cured.

Only God is not making mistakes. Admit when

you have made one and learn something from this situation. Do not sacrifice a patient for your pride.

There are no identical cases.

Learn something from each patient.

Treat persons not cases. Communicate with your patients and treat them

like human beings.

Work in a team: alone you will not succeed.

Teach your young colleagues. Be proud and not invidious

about their progresses. Don`t be afraid that they will

take your place: anyway someday that will happen.

Fight against death, but respect her.

We live once,

but if we live right,

once is enough.

Each morning look yourself in the mirror

and behave yourself in order not to be

ashamed of what you see.

We don`t know if God exists, but each day we should act like he

really do.
