DATING VIOLENCE ISN’T A KID’S GAME

PREPARED FOR TEEN DATING AWARENESS MONTH (2015)

That 1 in 3 kids is a victim of sexual,

emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner, a figure that far exceeds rates of other types of youth

violence?

That 1 in 10 high school students have purposely hit, slapped or physically hurt by a

boyfriend or girlfriend?

That 1 in 4 high school girls have been victims of

physical or sexual abuse?

That more than 60% of these relationships

involve verbal abuse?

That females between the ages of 16 and 24 experience the highest rate of dating

violence…

almost TRIPLE the national average?

That 1 in 4 teens gets harassed and abused through technology?

That dating violence hurts.

That sometimes it hurts so bad,it will make you cry or scream.

That sometimes sons, daughters, brothers, sisters,

grandchildren and friends have to die

before dating violence is taken

seriously.

That sitting on your “hands” won’t make the violence disappear.

That talking to anyone about what you know

or what you suspect

is a great first step.

That spreading the word through email is a good second step.

That sending warning texts to those who care

is a great third step.

That getting family involvedis a great fourth step.

That these steps will never end for you until

the violence ends for them.

That saving someone from dating violence is your business.

Save them now.

Save them today.
