What is MURE and why MURE ?

What is MURE and why MURE ?

• A comprehensive database of RUE and REN measures, for each EU member state (27 countries + Norway), and for all end-use sectors (Household, Transport, Industry and Tertiary).

• A simulation tool, allowing to build and run RUE and REN scenarios to calculate potential costs and impacts associated to RUE/REN policies and measures

• MURE Network

MURE(Mesures d’Utilisation

Rationnelle de l’Energie)

MURE: Motivation• Kyoto has set quantitative targets for the

reduction of greenhouse gases• Reporting obligations at the international

and national level- Communications to the UNFCCC- Monitoring reports of the EU member states to the Commission concerning the progress in the reduction of GHG

• Establishment of national and EU programmes for the reduction of GHG; estimates of programme impact- EU: ECCP; Energy Efficiency Directive

Summary (1): Contribution of MURE to evaluate energy and GHG reduction

policies and measures

• Full qualitative and quantitative overview of energy efficiency policies and measures (and distributed renewable policies) in every EU-Member State (existing and forthcoming)

• Information on the impact of the measures. • Simulation tool: to simulate in a transparent and

harmonised way the impact of measures in particular where such information is not available from a detailed national evaluation study.

Summary (2): MURE - Main advantages

• „Memory function“ for measures and their impact

• Internet-based database: accessibility• MURE Network: Interaction EU and

Member States. Data collection and data analysis in a „Shared“ way.
