Printed Output•One of the major forms of computer output.•Form of output that is most commonly distributed to users and is used primarily as an end product.•It is the final result of computer processing.•This is prepared by computer device called printer.

Printed Output•Typically contains 132 characters on each line.•In aligning data, numerous blank fields have to be left out between significant ones.

Printer Spacing Chart

•Sometimes called a print layout sheet (or video display map for microcomputers)•It maps out those areas of form that are to be filled with information.

•Printed reports that serve as computer output are referred to as continuous forms.

Standard Stock Continuous Forms

•Come in numerous lengths, usually, 6 lines of output may be printed per inch, thus providing up to 72 lines of information per page.

Diskette•The flexible disk widely known as the “floppy disk”•Introduced in 1973 to replace punch cards as a medium for media entry.•Made up of soft disc of plastic coated with magnetic material and housed in a square cardboard envelope.

Diskette•Data is accessed as the disk rotates.•Data is organized and retrieved according to the disk’s equal-sized pie shapes, called sectors.
