Optical Mark Recognition
OMR is a technology which uses hardware to detect the presence or absence of marks. It can be used for automatically marking answer sheets for tests or surveys with multiple choice questions. A page (web from) which allows buttons to be clicked and sent to a server. Many traditional OMR devices work with a dedicated scanner device that shines a beam of light onto the form paper. You would feed the information into a OMR reader.

Sensors
A sensor is a device that detects events or changes in quantities and provides a corresponding output, generally as an electrical or optical signal.

Optical Character Recognition
Often abbreviated OCR, optical character recognition refers to the branch of computer science that involves reading text from paper and translating the images into a form that the computer can manipulate (for example, into ASCII codes). An OCR system enables you to take a book or a magazine article, feed it directly into an electronic computer file, and then edit the file using a word processor.

Bar codes
A barcode is an optical machine-readable representation of data relating to the object to which it is attached.

Quick Response Codes
Mobile phone readable barcode that's been big in Japan forever, broke into Europe a while back, and is now getting traction in USA. QR is short for Quick Response (they can be read quickly by a cell phone). They are used to take a piece of information from a transitory media and put it in to your cell phone.

Radio Frequency Identification
A significant advantage of RFID devices over the others mentioned above is that the RFID device does not need to be positioned precisely relative to the scanner. We're all familiar with the difficulty that store checkout clerks sometimes have in making sure that a barcode can be read. And obviously, credit cards and ATM cards must be swiped through a special reader.

Near field Communication
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a set of short-range wireless technologies, typically requiring a distance of 4cm or less to initiate a connection.
Who benefits from near field communication?•Busy parents checking out at the grocery store•Businessmen people riding the subway to work•Businesses looking for faster, more secure payment methods for customers•Students touring a museum•And many more
